Where to eat on a Gaza Envelope tour
Planning a tour of the Gaza Envelope (Otef Aza) and looking for a lunch stop for your group? HaBikta in Kfar Maimon (Tushiya) sits right on the tour route - about 8 minutes from Tkuma and 13 minutes from the Nova festival site. We host groups of 20 to 200 people by advance booking, and a full lunch stop takes about 30-45 minutes.
The usual stops on a Gaza Envelope tour
Most tours of the area include some of these stops: the Nova festival site near Re'im, the burnt-cars site in Tkuma, the kibbutzim of Kfar Aza, Be'eri and Nahal Oz, and the town of Sderot.
HaBikta is right in the middle of that route: about 8 minutes by bus from Tkuma, 13 minutes from the Nova site and 15 minutes from Sderot. We are inside a moshav, so there is no city traffic and no hunting for bus parking - you stop for lunch along the way and carry on.
How the lunch stop works
1. Book ahead on WhatsApp with the number of people, the date and your arrival time.
2. Pick a menu that fits your budget.
3. On the day, the guide lets us know when the bus is on its way, and the kitchen times the food to your arrival.
4. The bus parks right outside and the market-style table is already set: burgers, fries, vegetables and sauces, and everyone builds their own plate.
5. Eat on the lawn, under the trees or in the covered pergola, then move on to your next stop.
